Once each Zone Committee has submitted their proposals to National Conference, students’ unions have the opportunity to submit ordinary motions or to submit amendments to the motions that Zone Committees have proposed.
Students’ unions wishing to submit motions to National Conference must pass those motions through their own democratic decision making bodies first – such as student council, an Executive meeting or an all-student vote. Students’ unions can submit up to 1,400 words of policy to National Conference.
Ordinary motions must be received by midday on Wednesday 5th March 2014.
Students’ unions can also submit up to 300 words in amendments to Zone proposals (Amendments to the rules do not have a word limit.) These must be received by midday on Wednesday 5th March.
All motions and amendments should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by the above deadlines.
It is recommended that before submitting a motion to National Conference, you take the opportunity to read current policy that NUS has. This is available to read here.
